The Double-Toothed Kite is aptly named after the two teeth like structures on the maxilla. They can be seen high up in the canopy following troops of monkeys, hoping their prey (lizards/insects) is flushed. Was lucky to be standing at a high spot in the forest which helped with the near eye-level photograph here. As you know, neotropical and tropical forests are great places to see many species of birds. However for photography these are tough circumstances with very low available light. This image was taken at 840mm, F7.1 and ISO 1250. I brought the shutter speed down to 1/80s. was really happy to see how sharp the image turned out. Thanks dear 5 series Gitzo. Though you are heavy and a drag to lug around, you are reliable for sure. The lower you keep the ISO, my experience is that you get sharper images as long as there is no camera or subject movement.
